Congratulations to Walailak University Faculty on Publishing Research in a Top SCOPUS Q1 Journal

The School of Architecture and Design at Walailak University proudly congratulates the following faculty members and collaborators for their recent publication in the prestigious international journal Cogent Arts and Humanities, indexed in SCOPUS Q1 with a percentile ranking of 91: Associate Professor Chotip Singhamat, Department of Interior Design ,Associate Professor Banjongsak Phimthong, Department of Architecture ,Associate Professor Pratchaya Krisanapan ,Assistant Professor Surinee Kingkad, Department of Interior Design, Van Louis Lo from the Faculty of Education, Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Oman

Their research article titled “Rocking Chair Design Made of Oil Palm Wood for Children Aged 3-5 Years Old” was accepted for publication on May 31, 2025.

This study focuses on the design of a rocking chair specifically tailored for children aged 3 to 5 years, utilizing oil palm wood — an abundant resource in Thailand. The research emphasizes a sustainable design approach that integrates safety, comfort, and developmental benefits for children. By employing agricultural by-products as raw materials, the project adds value to local resources and promotes environmentally responsible manufacturing.

Furthermore, the design carefully considers ergonomic principles appropriate for young children’s physical development to enhance their emotional well-being and enjoyment during use.

The publication in Cogent Arts and Humanities, a highly respected SCOPUS Q1 journal, validates the quality and international impact of the research. This achievement not only elevates the reputation of Walailak University but also inspires students and emerging researchers to pursue excellence in creative and meaningful scholarship.
